20 Things: Solo Travel Taught Me About Love

I’m about to get personal with you. I always encourage my clients to get specific on their hobbies and then go after them. Well, I practice what I preach. Cut to my favorite hobby of all time…TRAVEL!?

And I’ve done it solo (multiple times), which is empowering AF might I add. It’s helped me heal my soul. It’s given me the courage to leave an abusive relationship, and it’s given me confidence in who I am today.

Without travel, I don’t know who I’d be. It’s not even necessarily travel itself but the process of doing it that gives me ultimate growth. I find such a purpose in it. It’s the breath of fresh air from the everyday grind.

As I sat alone in the Souq Waqif in Doha, sipping on mint tea and taking in the evening warmth, I had a moment of deep reflection. At the time this was my 20th country and I realized how important solo travel has been for love in my life. I’m not just talking relationships but self-love too.

I always encourage women and my clients to travel solo if their heart seeks it. It doesn’t matter if you’re single, going through a breakup or in a relationship. Travel as an opportunity to grow a deeper connection within. I’ve learned something new at different stages of my life through it.

Disclaimer: There still is a stigma around it not being “safe.” Yes, there are countries where it’s not safe to travel alone as a woman but do your research. If the country is safe then go for it!! It may just change your life.
